The Interesting Story Behind Hunter Creek & Why It Should Matter To You

Hi, I am Bobby Floyd owner of the North Florida Big Bucks properties. I acquired the 8 parcels of land on our northfloridabigbucks.com web site from Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) in December of 2015. I chose the 120 acre Hunter Creek property for the following reasons:

  • Both the 38 acre and the 82 acre parcels have highway frontage.

  • Both have access to electrical power.

  • A portion of each parcel is planted in long leaf pines which continue to increase their value each year.

  • Both properties adjoin State lands, closed to hunting, that border Suwannee River. These protected State lands prevent further development in this area while providing a home for an abundance of Wildlife.

The above factors make each of these parcels ideal for someone looking for a weekend getaway, hunting and fishing, or a home in the country.

After acquiring these properties a friend asked if he and his wife could hunt on the Hunter Creek 120 acre parcel. I said “sure,” just give me the photographs from your game cameras.

The property was in a perfect location, backing up to 2,500 acres of State Protected Land. However, the game cameras just weren't showing a lot of activity. There were a couple small bucks and some does, but nothing too special. So, our friend picked up and moved onto to another property we had available.

A short time later I received a call from Frank Shaw who asked about leasing the Hunter Creek property. I told Frank we were going to sell this land and were not interested in leasing it. I also explained to Frank our game camera photos showed only small bucks and does on this property. Oddly, a short time later Frank called again and asked to lease this 120 acre parcel.

At This Point I Was Puzzled Why Frank Was So Interested In Leasing This Property Which Didn't Seem To Have Any Quality Bucks On It?

I arranged a meeting with Frank to see what we could work out and to maybe discover why this property was so important to him. The following week I met Frank at one of his hunting camps to discuss the Hunter Creek parcels that bordered him.

After talking a while, I could see Frank was unsure about inviting me inside his camp. At that point, I told Frank I lived 70 miles away and personally had no intention of hunting the parcel that joined him.

Hearing this, Frank opened up and explained he managed the 700 acres next to my property for Trophy Buck Hunting. He also explained how the management of my 120 acres was important to his hunting program.

To confirm the success of his program, Frank invited me into his camp where over a dozen trophy buck mounts were displayed. These mounts were all taken by Frank, with a bow, and did not include any of the over one hundred trophy bucks taken by his clients.

Just as I was leaving, Frank asked if I had time to ride over to a second hunting camp located on the bank of the Suwannee River. I said sure and on the way to the second camp, he explained…

What It Takes To Successfully Manage A Trophy Buck Program

Frank revealed how he provides his Hunters a successful hunting season year after year. He explained how implementing a few simple changes to your Hunting Program insured your Hunters the opportunity to harvested Free Ranging Mature Bucks throughout the Hunting Season.

Frank said this type program was necessary for clients who can't hunt the early part of the season or during the rut.

When we entered Frank’s second hunting camp its walls, just like the walls in his first camp, displayed numerous trophy mounts including a 10 point that scored 154 + inches.

I've hunted for over 60 years in both Florida and Wyoming but have learned more about managing deer since I met Frank than in all of the previous 60 years. Frank's unique philosophies and management strategies make it possible to produce and keep trophy bucks in your hunting area without high fences!

Since our first meeting, Frank has implemented his Trophy Buck Management practices on my 120 acre parcel. The 2017-18 hunting season was the second year Frank managed my Hunter Creek property.

The only hunter Frank took to this parcel was my 10 year old grandson Macon, who was accompanied by his father. It was next to the last weekend of the season when we took Macon to try his luck. Macon got a nice 8 Point Buck establishing a 100% success record for this property while under the management practices of Frank Shaw.

Our Minds Have Been Changed about The Quality and Quantity of Deer at Hunter Creek!

When you see the newly updated game pictures on this page, it is evident Frank’s Management Program has elevated Hunter Creek to our Top Trophy Buck Producer.

These new photographs, taken from Franks cameras in July 2018, confirm Frank’s Trophy Buck Management Program works when it is followed

A critical factor in providing a successful hunting season is using management practices that prevent your free-roaming Trophy Bucks from becoming nocturnal. Frank's management system makes it possible for his clients to consistently harvest mature bucks throughout the hunting season.

Working with Frank to implement his Trophy Buck Management Plan on our Hunter Creek parcel has added a new dimension to this property. Its New Owner will enjoy a First Class Florida Open Range Trophy Buck Hunting Paradise and the opportunity to work with the Best Trophy Buck Manager I Know - Frank Shaw.
